Why “Perfect Health” Isn’t Real

The people who are chasing and always toward their goal for a perfect health assume that they have to achieve a flawless version of wellness, But our genetics, environments, cultures, and needs differ. Bodies are dynamic, not static. They change over time.

  • Health includes mental well-being, not just physical numbers.
  • Perfection is rigid. Real wellness is flexible and personal.
  • Chronic conditions exist. For many, “perfect health” is not even a possibility but peace and balance are.

Striving for a flawless version of health often pushes us further from actual health.

The Wellness Industry’s Role in Creating False Standards

Let’s be honest: the modern wellness industry profits off your insecurity. From detox teas to endless “must-have” supplements and restrictive diets, there’s always a new product claiming to help you “finally become healthy.”

But these messages often:

  • Promote fear-based marketing—“If you don’t do this, you’ll suffer.”
  • Shame natural bodies for not looking sculpted or lean.
  • Encourage unsustainable routines that lead to rebound behaviors.
  • Ignore mental and emotional health entirely.

Instead of making us feel empowered, they make us feel like we’re never doing enough.

What Real Health Looks Like

So, if perfect health is a myth, what should we aim for instead? The answer: Real, holistic well-being—an approach that includes physical, mental, and emotional care without chasing perfection.

Here’s what that might look like:

  • Moving your body joyfully, not as punishment
  • Eating for nourishment and enjoyment, not strict restriction
  • Spending time with people who lift you up
  • Doing things that bring you peace, even if they’re “unproductive”
  • Allowing yourself some time when things don’t go as planned
